Severe Weather Shelters Open

This morning's icicles

(Bellingham, WASH)

The icy forecast has caused Interfaith Coalition to open its severe weather shelters starting Monday night. The shelters are open from 5 p.m. to 8 a.m. with dinner and breakfast provided. The Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office Division of Emergency Management would like to remind the public that during these cold nights the effects of exposure can happen quickly.

Shelters will most likely be open all week.  If you come across a community member in need of sheltering on these cold nights, please advice them of the locations.

There are two shelter sites: the men’s shelter, located at Faith Lutheran Church, 2750 McLeod Road, Bellingham, WA 98225, and the women’s and children’s shelter, at Garden Street United Methodist Church, 1326 N. Garden St. , Bellingham, WA 98225.

Please pass on this information and assist us in ensuring all our citizens in Whatcom County have a warm place to go this holiday season.
