Search and Rescue
Search and Rescue (SAR) in Whatcom County is made up of several groups that form a council, each with its own specialized training and skills.
Whether someone is stranded on a mountain, lost on a trail or has wandered away from a special care facility, SAR volunteers respond to help.
The groups that make up the Search and Rescue Council include:
- Whatcom County Sheriff's Office
- Summit to Sound
- Civil Air Patrol
- 4x4 Unit
- Dive Rescue
- Mountain Rescue
Participation in these groups requires a commitment to train and to respond in emergencies.
