Local Hazards
Whatcom County has its share of hazardous events. The beauty of the mountains and the ocean have their drawbacks. We can expect a broad variety of natural hazards, including floods, storms, landslides, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, tsunamis, and wildfires. In addition, industries, pipelines, refineries, rail transportation and the I-5 corridor makes us vulnerable to hazardous materials disasters.
